Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 9/3/2026
Who we are:
The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County (“The Land Conservancy,” “LCSLO,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a nonprofit corporation based in San Luis Obispo County, California. Our website address is lcslo.org (the “Site”). We respect your privacy and value the trust you place in us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when you visit the Site, make a donation, register for or attend an event, volunteer with us, subscribe to updates, sign a waiver or registration form, or otherwise interact with us by phone, mail, email, or text message.
Scope of This Policy; Related Terms
This Policy applies to personal information The Land Conservancy collects across all of its activities, including through the Site, donation processing, event and volunteer registration, waiver and program registration forms, donor and member communications, and general correspondence by mail, phone, email, and text message. Certain programs or activities may be accompanied by an additional, more specific notice (for example, on a waiver or registration form); where a more specific notice applies, it supplements, and does not replace, this Policy. Your use of the Site is also governed by our Website Terms and Conditions, available at lcslo.org/terms, and, if you opt in to receive text messages, by our SMS Terms & Conditions, available at lcslo.org/sms-terms. This Policy, the Website Terms and Conditions, and the SMS Terms & Conditions are intended to be read together.

- Donor, partner, landowner, or community inquiry information.
- Communications you send to us by email, phone, text message, web form, mail, or other methods.
- Technical information collected automatically when you visit the Site, such as IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, referring website, and general usage information.
Cookies and Online Tracking
The Site may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (such as web analytics tools) to understand how visitors use the Site and to improve its content and functionality. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling cookies may affect how the Site functions.
Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is not yet an accepted industry standard for responding to these signals, the Site does not currently respond to Do Not Track signals or similar mechanisms
Donations and Payment Information
If you make a donation online, your payment information is processed by a secure third-party payment processor. We do not store full credit card numbers or banking information on our systems. How We Share Information
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for those third parties’ own marketing purposes. We may share personal information as follows:
- With service providers who perform functions on our behalf, such as payment processing, email or donor communications platforms, mailing and printing vendors, and information technology support, under obligations to protect that information and use it only to provide services to us.

Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information in our custody from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including to maintain financial and donor records, comply with legal and tax obligations, and resolve disputes, after which it is securely deleted or de-identified.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information without appropriate parental or guardian consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
