Conservation Project Manager
Rachel Best

Rachel moved from her hometown of Salinas to San Luis Obispo in 2017 to attend Cal Poly where she earned a degree in Environmental Management and Protection with minors in Water Science and Biology. She grew up surrounded by farmland (“Steinbeck Country”) with the Monterey Bay just a few miles to the west. After graduating from Cal Poly, she worked at the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board for a bit and then came back to SLO to work as a planning consultant in 2022.
In her free time, she loves going for long beach walks and hikes – especially with her dog, Alf. She also has a passion for cooking and always enjoys the added challenge of making extravagant dinners while camping. When the weather isn’t great for outdoor activities, she leans into creative hobbies like quilting and embroidering.
