The Heart & Soil Campaign aims to raise $30 million in public and private funds over five years to help The Land Conservancy permanently protect San Luis Obispo County’s unique rural character, natural beauty and strong community forever.
To date, The Land Conservancy has identified $22 million in project-specific funds and is confident that an additional $3 million can be raised through public agencies and grants. The remaining $5 million (16% of the total campaign) must be raised in private gifts to successfully leverage the public project funds. The Land Conservancy aims to engage unprecedented support from local and regional donors and private foundations through this ambitious campaign.
CONSERVE: 83% of funds raised
$25 million to permanently protect 15,000 acres of strategic conservation properties that safeguard drinking water and wildlife habitat, provide new recreation opportunities, and expand the existing network of protected landscapes in San Luis Obispo County. These funds will leverage an additional $8.5 million worth of donated land value.
CARE: 7% of funds raised
$2 million to ensure that The Land Conservancy will be able to care for, defend, and enhance conservation lands under our watch, forever.
CONNECT: 5% of funds raised
$1.5 million to create two new public access opportunities at protected places and increase public support for local land conservation.
CAMPAIGN OUTREACH & ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY: 5% of funds raised
$1.5 million to advance the goals of the Heart & Soil Campaign and to ensure that fundraising efforts leverage the future capacity and sustainability of the organization.
