Pismo Preserve Summer Hike Series: Nature Journaling

August 26, 2022 - 9:00 - 10:30

Join us for outings at the Pismo Preserve throughout August with staff and special guests for our summer hiking series.

Overview: These hikes and workshops will take place on Vamonos Trail. The difficulty is moderate due to a few steep hills. The Vamonos Trail meanders through a canyon with ancient oaks, a few fun bridge crossings, interesting rock formations and breathtaking ocean views. The trail is family friendly and suitable for children.

Please arrive early to allow time for parking. The group will meet at the kiosk on the southern end of the parking lot near the restrooms and picnic tables. Please bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and hat.

Nature Journaling Workshop & Walk: Take a deep dive into the curious world of nature journaling with a Central Coast naturalist. A nature journal is a space to record observations, thoughts, and feelings about what you see in nature. Nature journaling is the perfect way to nurture creativity and build critical thinking and scientific skills. All levels of nature journalers of all ages are welcome. We will provide the prompts, writing materials, hand lenses, measuring materials and clipboards. The first half of this workshop will take place at the picnic benches near the Kiosk then after completing a group activity we will break off to smaller groups for more in-depth journaling and optional hike.

This workshop is accessible for people of all mobility levels.
